About TOEFL Test
The TOEFL test is conducted by the ETS (Education Testing Service) in two different ways.
1. TOEFL iBT
The TOEFL iBT, or Test of English as a Foreign Language Internet-Based Test, has replaced the traditional paper-based format. This shift was prompted by the evolution of the test and the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. The new online TOEFL iBT offers three different testing approaches to cater to students' varying preferences and needs. This move aims to enhance convenience and adapt to the changing landscape of education.
- TOEFL iBT Test: Test taken on a computer at the test center
- TOEFL iBT Home Edition: Test taken on a computer at home
- TOEFL iBT Paper Edition: Reading, Listening, and Writing on paper at a test centre, and Speaking on a computer at home are the two sessions.
2. TOEFL Essentials
TOEFL essentials test is recently introduced by the ETS to make the test easier and user friendly, with a good quality that Universities respect. It is faster and shorter version of TOEFL iBT. TOEFL Essentials is a 1 ½ test with a personal video statement required.
- The TOEFL Essentials test has four sections — Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking
- The test takes about 1.5 hours to complete.
- TOEFL Essentials Exam Parts: The TOEFL Essentials test has four sections — Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking — plus a 5-minute, unscored Personal Video Statement.
